I’ve always been passionate about literature and its influence on people and culture. I grew up reading mythology and British and European literature: among my earliest favorites were Rudyard Kipling and C.S. Lewis. I read voraciously: Anne of Green Gables, Wuthering Heights, books on Greek and Egyptian mythology, Arthurian legend, and on into modern fictions by Dean Koontz, John Saul, Anne Rice, John Grisham, Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, and then so many that I could not even keep track of everyone and everything I read. Ghosts, dragons, angels and devils, monsters and fairies.

I started college for a degree in literature, became enamored with archetypes and then stayed for another, taking a Masters that I managed to focus onto Medieval literature, Romantic poetry, Shakespeare and writing. I branched out into new authors: Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Toni Morrison, Orson Scott Card, Isabel Allende, Connie Willis, and so many more. I love the writing arts for their ability to transform and transport, to evoke emotion and create empathy. I love taking old stories and archetypes and shaping them into stories that speak to modern minds.

I've been writing stories as long as I can remember. I live and breathe story. I taught middle school for seven years in low-income schools, attempting to teach literature there, which ended up being more remedial by necessity. The whole time, I continued to write. Over those teaching years, I've written three manuscripts that I am in the process of polishing up to self publish. Really, I've always been involved in writing in some way or other - editing, proofreading, ghost writing, thesis, fiction, genealogy. Recently, I've been pulled out of teaching into the world of disability, and will probably never be able to go back. Rather than mourn, I've chosen to pursue writing full time - something I've always been afraid to do.

It's forced me to be honest with myself about some things. I really just want to write. I want to write and publish as many stories as flow through my head, short stories, books, flash fiction, anything. I self publish, so I do the editing, seek out reviews,

Patreon access will get you behind the scenes, access to early drafts, extra material not included in the published books. I could post character profiles, story notes, lists of upcoming ideas, mini writes that I use to evaluate ideas, pictures of how the notebooks and scribbles look as I wade through the process. I even plan to offer videos of myself reading chapters for some of my Patrons.

Every dollar someone is willing to pledge for monthly support is a person telling me that my stories are worth reading, worth the time and sacrifice. That dollar tells me that someone likes what I do enough that they would like me to do more.

I am so grateful for the support that you show me, that I personally pledge to pay forward 10% of what I earn here in order to support other Creators on Patreon.

If you are the person who is seriously ready to support me at this level, I would be willing to let you create a character name and collaborate with me on how you want them to appear in a story. I would write you a commissioned short story to the best of my ability on subject of your choice. I will post personalized thank you notes to you on my webpage and facebook. I will tell stories about you to my children and my children's children ;)

For this much money per month, I could create marketing materials for current projects, and I could start paying someone to proofread for me. I have personally pledged to donate 10% of what I earn here to other Creators on Patreon, so this would also allow me to give $20 in support to others.
