My Bio

As Tom Cruise was getting into some Risky Business and the Eurythmics were singing us to sleep with "Sweet Dreams," BarkodeOTB was making his debut in Shelby, North Carolina. Growing up in the South Central region of the state, he was surrounded by historical architecture and an abundance of southern charm. Also the home of Patty Loveless, Shelby gave way to another musical gift in 1983 when BarkodeOTB came to be. Today he's far from home making a name for himself in Denver, Colorado with his instrumental take on the hip-hop game.

A producer who wears various shoes as a writer, composer and sound designer BarkodeOTB is an ASCAP affiliated man who has quite the number of accolades to his name. Writing all his own songs and often performing on an array of instruments found on them, BarkodeOTB does not utilize ghostwriters on any of his music. In fact, his musicianship and lyrics are so strong, they landed him a gig with the United States Army. He penned an anti-drug song for the Army, gaining a great deal of recognition in the Army Times, and was later performed in front is my company and unit.

In April 2017 he dropped 10. It features a cascade of tracks including "Drama Free," which he says, "Conveys a feeling calmness for the listener." He also harkens back to his time in North Carolina and the churches with "Black Sunrise," which has an old southern hymn feel. Then there is "Trippin," a song that takes listeners on a trip to another planet. BarkodeOTB has a sound that places him in the instrumental category based on his complex patterns and syncopation. It's a style that isn't out of the norm in the digital age, but it's the personal touches that he adds to every track that makes him stand out from the rest.

The story is still being written and you have a chance to influence how the story progresses. I'm interested and seeing how things move forward from here.
