I believe that no martial art has all of the answers. That is why I want to train in all of them. Of course, you can't reach mastery in any style this way. But that is not my goal. My goal is to assemble a martial arts curriculum from scratch, one that contains principles and techniques from as many martial arts as possible, allowing "on the fly" adaptation to many different situations. Another goal of this martial art would be to train with as many different weapon types as possible, so one could pick up almost any object and be skilled in it's use as a weapon.

In order to do this, I wish to train in several different martial arts, each for a week (or some other non-specific period of time.) At the end of that period, I would spar with a partner and try to apply what I had learned. This would include weapons sparring (I would be wearing a fencing mask and other protective gear.) Each martial art contains way more than a week-or-so's worth of knowledge however, so I would return to some styles in later episodes. Ranged weapons, such as firearms bows, slingshots and crossbows would also be part of the system. In a similar fashion to mixed martial arts, certain aspects of the art would have specialist instructors (an instructor for takedowns, one for swords, one for firearms, one for boxing, etc...)

I would film these activities and edit it into a webshow for YouTube, hopefully adding more funding to the project. I also have plans for other related shows, featuring women's self defence scenarios, mixed weapon sparring, testing various weapons on inanimate targets and armour testing as well.

In the words of Bruce Lee,  “Adapt what is useful, reject what is useless, and add what is specifically your own.”
