Those who know me in the Bay Area are familiar with my hybrid academic and entrepreneurial ambitions.  I keep an office at The Port Workspaces in Oakland where I work modestly on a research idea I call "New Asset Theory."  The goal is to develop a stable mathematical model that can generate and predict new valuable products and business models(assets) for developing technologies and social advancements.  In theory, you could view it as an attempt to apply traditional value investing to venture finance and entrepreneurship.  I intend to roll this idea (NAT, for short) into a "startup studio" where I both develop some of the ideas predicted and publish much of the research work.

Alongside this, for the past several years, I have supplemented this effort with teaching and tutoring work, particularly as an education specialist for ADHD students and their families.  It has been a privilege to watch my students grow and has served as a good entry into teaching and academia(fingers crossed I should be teaching at the college level in the spring semester).  Alongside NAT, I will occasionally be working on ADHD projects as well ( a couple of books related to my teaching methods and perhaps some research coordinated with a school of education).

Your contributions are invaluable.  It allows me to devote regular time(and eventually full-time) to this endeavor.  I will usually have two costs associated with NAT projects.  One is more modest(but regular) - a small office, books, occasional conference attendance, and data rental/service fees (Usual research stuff for a rogue economist).  Secondly, I may also decide to model a product/prototype based off of some NAT calculations and attempt to build/prove it.  These projects will probably have specific campaigns tied to them.  For now, I am mainly concerned with underwriting rogue(but one day widely accepted) economics.  : )  Thanks so much for visiting.
