About Curtis

I craft fiction and tell stories.

Latest VLOG on Youtube:

FUN FACTS
  • I write fantasy novels, novellas, and short stories.
  • I am obsessed with storytelling, dragons, and the writing process.
  • I am both Filipino and American.
  • My next novel is coming out in 2020. It has swords, two female protagonists, one male protagonist, and one-or-many antagonists, depending on who you ask.
MORE FUN FACTS:
  • Every weekday morning, from 5:00 am to 6:30 am, I create scenes.
  • I work from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm as a teacher, and I practice fiction writing at night.

  • I only write on days that I eat food or breathe. Only those days.
  • Saturdays are for resting, thinking up new ideas, and hanging out with my wife. I still write on Saturdays, but usually just a few sentences.
  • I don't own a real sword...yet.
This is my cat Lorax. As you can see, he loves writing.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Why do I write?
I ask myself this question sometimes, but I think the answer can be summed up by this picture:

Other than reading every book I can get my hands on, my dream is to write as many books as I can before I'm dead - just being honest.

I hope to publish a few of them too.

Why fantasy novels and novellas?

There are many genres that speak to me as a writer, but fantasy speaks to me the most. I'm drawn in by crumbling kingdoms, shaky alliances, and the mysterious origins of hired thieves and shapeshifters. In fantasy, magic and intrigue are as commonplace as trees are in a wildwood. The simple answer is... I write fantasy because I love it.

Your support helps me focus on my creative passions.

You're helping me do the following:

  • adequately pay independent artists, illustrators, and other professionals for their effort, artwork, designs, and resources
  • produce higher-quality publications
  • reach a wider audience
  • provide more opportunities and avenues for sharing my creations
  • provide ad-free sites for all of my readers ( PaperPalacesBlog.com and  CurtisWritesBooks.com)
In short, you make this dream possible.

These rewards vary, but all patrons and followers receive public updates and behind-the-scenes information. Patrons see them first, of course!

I also occasionally send pictures of what's going on in my life, like visiting inspiring or curious locations:

Thank you so much for your support so far. As a result of your efforts, I was able to pay for a design contest through 99 Designs for my book The Witch's Uprising.

The next step is buying better equipment! A professional mic is the first on the list. Gotta improve that audio in my videos!
