About Charles Xavier Kilborn

A Letter to Patrons:

Dear You,

I have not always been a good person. The search required to find myself wasn't an easy journey, and it was one I began with very few expectations. Almost 600 days later, my sobriety, my transition, and my poetry have shaped my life in ways that have given me the ability to help inspire others to care more intentionally for themselves, and the people around them. Hello, my name is Charles Xavier, and it is my great pleasure to introduce to you the person I am now. My journey through self awareness has empowered me to invite others to do internal work with the promise that the better you understand yourself, the better able you are to understand those around you. I have developed a passion for community service work, in the form of community healing. I depend heavily on my lived experiences to engage in conversations around LGBTQIA identities, particularly within the Black, queer community. I attend conferences in an effort to always be working on professional development and have been invited to facilitate a number of workshops around healthy coping skills, identifying what self care looks like individually and within community spaces, unpacking toxic masculinity, and unlearning anti-Blackness. I am extremely passionate about providing representation to young, Black men of trans experience, particularly via social media, because of the overwhelming lack of representation available. When I began navigating my own gender identity in 2013, I struggled to find narratives of trans life experiences that I identified with. 5 years later, I feel myself becoming the person that I needed growing up which has made it even more important to me to exist in a visible and accessible way. Through my work within the community, and my social media presence, I would like to continue to mentor young men of trans experience -- and those that consider themselves allies to our community -- and help provide them with affirmation and validation they may otherwise not have access to. In order to continue my work, I need the support of my community.

Thank you for being here with me now.
In love & light,
