Thanks for visiting my Patreon Page!

My name is Dana Lynn Harper and I'm an installation artist that is based in Columbus, Ohio. I make large-scale installations and sculptures from materials sourced from hardware, craft, and thrift stores. These new materials, often plastic and neon, are the starting point of my creative process. The manipulation and experimentation of these materials is the key to discovering and creating my next installation works. Installations are physical manifestations of my energy—a playground for exploration—asking viewers to engage through imagination and touch, pushing participants back into childlike sensibilities.
.
My Patreon Feed is an inside look into my process and studio, offering more than what is available on social media. At any Tier, my patrons have a more personalized experience with my studio practice.
.
Making art full time, I fund my work through sales, grants and residency stipends. Making large scale installation works, my sales are not as reliable as more traditional artists. Most of my funding is dependent on grants and stipends.
.
My work is enhanced by artist residencies, where I travel and live in a new city for approximately one month. I attend residencies about twice a year, most of them provide a modest stipend, but I am still responsible for travel and food as well as the expenses I have at home.
.
In addition to being an artist, I enjoy teaching workshops, ranging from elementary and high schools to free one-day community events.
.
I donate my volunteer time to Second Sight Project and grant writing for 934 Gallery, both located in Columbus, Ohio. I have also worked on projects with Wild Goose Creative and the Franklinton-based community exhibition "Silence Is Death."
.

Your patronage will help me:
-Spend more time in studio.
-Focus on creating larger installations that may have a lesser chance of selling but are more compelling works.
-Continue donating my time to organizations I believe in.
-Apply to more residencies, grants and shows. Most artist opportunities require an application fee that ranges from $10-$60.
