Thank you for considering patronage! This is my life's work, and for the time being I have sacrificed a regular paycheck to pursue it. I hope to shine a light for others, but I need help keeping the light fueled.

By contributing, you're helping me keep the intellectual fires stoked, enabling the creation of more and better content. Otherwise, all of my time is spent finding and taking freelance gigs to cover the bills.

I style myself a rogue intellectual. I intentionally stay to the fringe of what is commonly considered American intellectual culture so as not to be dominated by its influences. Otherwise, I would probably be holed up behind university walls with a host of would-be intellectuals who are doing it wrong.

Sometimes I write overtly political pieces, critical of both the left, the right and even supposedly apolitical institutions like academia. Other pieces focus on topics in psychology, sociology, education or philosophy. Most often, my work blends across several disciplines spanning the humanities and sciences alike.

In psychology, my greatest influence is the Polish psychiatrist Kazimierz Dabrowski. I am currently working on a book and curriculum adapted from some of his work on "personality shaping" and "self-education". As a notoriously difficult theory to explain, Dabrowski's Theory of Positive Disintegration (even the name is dense!) and its benefits are virtually inaccessible to the throngs of people who could benefit greatly from the perspective it offers. Support would help me make a theory of great value accessible to so many, through free courses and video lectures, in addition to a more thorough premium curriculum.

Other topics of importance to me:
  • The continued value of ancient philosophy and wisdom
  • The power of incremental change, for better or worse
  • Self-education and personal development
  • American Pragmatism
  • Futurism and speculative fiction
  • Transcendence, particularly through Karl Jaspers and Rudolf Steiner
