I've been interested in philosophy ever since I took my first Intro to Philosophy course in college, but I've been interested in seeking truth ever since I questioned my religious faith at the age of 15. I am creating videos and writing articles that attempt to expose the heart of any issue or disagreement by either finding truth or acknowledging ignorance. I'm doing this for two main reasons. First, to simply record my thoughts while honing my ability to think, write, and speak. And second, to share my ideas and perspective in a way that can be valuable to those who are willing to listen.

If you don't know who I am, I'm sure you'd like to get to know me before lending me your support. I was raised in a very religious home in one of the largest Amish and Mennonite populated counties in the US. Although I was not raised in a "strict" religious environment with archaic dress codes and the like, my grandparents were part of this type of "strict" Mennonite community before my father was born, and I did attend a Mennonite church until the age of 15, as well as, graduate from a Mennonite high school. Detailing the ways in which this upbringing lead me to where I am today is a long story for another time, but I do know the questioning of religious traditions and beliefs is what started me on the path to seeking truth and answers to the most fundamental questions.

I went on to college to study philosophy and communication. I loved philosophy from the moment I was introduced to the ancient Greeks, and my study of language and communication has helped me analyze the logical structure and coherence of arguments. I thoroughly enjoy dissecting complex problems and their supposed solutions. However, during college I became disillusioned by the higher education system and decided I didn't yet want to commit my life to academia without first exploring my options.

After college I took some time to explore career options in finance/banking and develop as a person outside of an academic setting. After careful thinking I am now planning to, hopefully, return to graduate school in 2019 to study philosophy. My main goal in studying philosophy at the graduate level is to reconcile the metaphysical and epistemological foundations of the enlightenment with the Kantian criticisms that lead to German Idealism, Analytic Philosophy, Post-Modernism, etc. In other words, I want to build an argument for realism from the ground up in order to reconcile the foundations, methods, and products of science with its criticisms (which have lead to a rampant relativism that has seemingly infected every aspect of western thought and culture). I also hope to use my knowledge and connections I gain in graduate school to do what I can to reshape the nature of education in the 21st century. Technological advancement should make an Ivy League level education attainable for anyone who has the adequate drive, desire, intellect, and internet connection.

Meanwhile, though, I hope to create content that can help others think about issues in a way that they may not have thought about before, and I would love to be able to financially support myself doing so.

Goals
$0 of $500 per month
Right now it's just me writing, recording, and editing. Hitting this goal would big a big first milestone and would allow me to upgrade my equipment and possibly outsource some of the video production so that I can spend more time on the actual writing and researching of the videos.
