Who I am and what I stand for
I'm Jiv, a professional miniature painter from the UK. I've been doing small, one-off commissions for several years and in 2018, turned my passion for painting into a business. I looked at the growing industry of studios out there and knew that I had something to offer - something different.

My goal is to bring a better connected, more digital experience to my followers and clients. I want to show the world what I do in a way that has everybody interested as close to my paintbrush as possible.

 What I make

Over the last year, I've focused on one-off client commissions, primarily for Games Workshop and similarly-scaled miniatures. You can see a catalogue of personal commissioned work over on my gallery here

I regularly post updates on my commissioned work across all the usual social media channels, too! You can find me on FacebookInstagram and Twitter

 Why Patreon?

Looking at my business model - it's been an absolute pleasure working with my clients...but something's been missing. The intensive nature of my work, the hours of labour for every commission to meet my standards; but it's not very scalable.

Fans and clients have been asking me for a deeper insight into my work, ever since I launched. Patreon, to me, is the best way to answer that call for engagement:

  • It provides me with a more reliable, less biased income from my work. I don't have to compromise on my values or the commissions that I take on because you'll be supporting me as a creator - not (always) just a commission painter
  • My work here is scalable - if I produce a painting guide, or set-up an exclusive stream, Q&A and/or painting lesson, you can all be reached and I can hear you back in one place.
  • I can grow my ambitions - Along with being better connected and free from the moral hazard of commission-only work, this platform has scope to let me grow. I can look at expanding the size of the studio, hiring more artists and support staff for more events. It's not just conjecture - I'm already hunting for locations in the North West to hold painting lessons. I'm in early discussions with web developers to look at bespoke, community platform. I've been recording and editing video material in the background.

I think Pateron can be the platform to give these ideas life.
