But hey - a patreon nonetheless! Give as much as feels fair to you, and even if it's a little amount, I really do appreciate the thought!

This would be solid, decent payment, and infers great appreciation on your part!

You will gain access to the masked images with transparent background as a reward.

I am digitally restoring scans of old lithographies in an ancient botanical tome which is now in the public domain. The book in question is Köhler's Medizinal-Pflanzen. Total images to process are:
  • Volume 1: 88 lithographies
  • Volume 2: 115 lithographies
  • Volume 3: 80 lithographies
Please be aware that this is an ongoing project, and that 56 sets of images will be published (plus three images that I will post straight away, not counting as a set). You agree to pay me whatever amount you enter per set of 5 images, so keep that in mind if you want to just throw a few pesetas my way! You may well do a one-time donation by becoming a patreon and canceling after a single payment, I am absolutely fine with that :)

My plan is to upload a new set of restored images once a week. There might be certain times when the frequency goes a tad bit lower than that, but I will make sure not to go over 5 sets published per month, in part as an assurance for patreons who do recurring payments that they will not get billed a large sum in a short time span.

Many of these depictions are of incredible artistic value and of great practical use, but sadly most of them were printed on fairly dark paper (the white paper we know today wasn't around back then). Since I want to print these beautiful drawings out, and not waste a ton of printer ink in the process, I decided to fire up GIMP and see what I can do about getting the background white, and cleaning up a bit of dust in the scans while I'm at it.
After trying out a bunch of different ideas, I am now confident to have found an efficient, non-destructive work flow, which ensures the highest possible quality for the restored image. It takes me anywhere between 8 and 40 minutes to process a single image, depending on scan quality and dustiness. The average time needed is 20 minutes.

To be clear about this: I intend to release the images with a white background in full resolution as high quality JPEGs to the public under CC non-commercial share-alike license. You do not need to be a patreon to get access to the images. But you can show your appreciation of the hours of work I put in by throwing some money at my face! :D

It is my hope that these stunning illustrations will continue to be used for years to come, from people all over the world, both digitally and on paper. Please help me in saving them from obscurity, restoring them to former glory, and bringing them to a wide audience again!
Thank you <3

This proves setting up the Patreon page was a good idea to begin with.
