About Freedom of Form Foundation
The Freedom of Form Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is working to fund and popularize scientific research that will enable freedom of one’s physical form. That is, to help people appear in the same way they envision themselves, as a liberating expression of one's identity.
We’ve been encouraged by recent scientific progress in prosthetics, neural interfaces, gene therapy, stem cells, and other breakthroughs in medicine. These are showing great promise and success in improving the lives of patients with incapacitating and chronic diseases, disorders, and disabilities. While funding for these efforts provided by governments and private foundations are focused on solving diseases and disorders, we think the technology has revolutionary applications beyond healing and restoration.
The Freedom of Form Foundation (FFF) has already seen interest from several scientists and engineers who are interested in directly researching how to achieve morphological freedom. However, these scientists are often bound in their work by the pressure of applying for, and renewing, research grants from more conservative funding sources.
This is where we come in. We will demonstrate that it is viable and appreciated for scientists to research these topics. We'll engage more broadly with other organizations, universities, and for-profit companies to guarantee formation of a stable, self-sustaining research enterprise. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, we will encourage more outward and open discussion of self-modification as a natural embodiment of freedom of expression.
With the rapid advancement of bioscience, and the increasing attention of both advocates and skeptics towards biotechnology, this is our best chance to help guide the future of biological research for the foreseeable future.

- Trailblazer – In addition to the above, get a t-shirt, and even recognition of your contribution on our website!
- Visionary – Get a t-shirt, handbag, and coffee mug. More visible recognition of your contribution on our website!
We can award our first research grant once we’re in the neighborhood of $4,000 per month – not too bad if we all chip in! Our cofounders are handling most of the overhead costs, and fully committed to the success of our mission.
We can’t promise instant results – science and translation to applications take a long time. And, as with any area of research, many individual projects will fail before giving useful outcomes. The important thing for now is that we let scientists get started. They can figure it out, as long as we give them the resources they need!
Together, we can make the phrase “be what you want to be” a reality.
Our FEIN is 824415111. Please to use that number when reporting your contributions, and please also remember that the value of any thank-you rewards should not be included in that total. Feel free to ask us if you have any questions about this – we can’t offer tax advice but we’ll do our best to provide as much clarity as we can. If in doubt, seek the help of a tax professional.
