About David

Gays? In my genre fiction? It’s more likely than you think.

What is Gays in Space?

Gays in Space is a biweekly podcast focusing on common tropes, criticisms, and themes that gay characters bring in science fiction, fantasy, and genre fiction. We’ll also go in-depth on popular franchises such as Doctor Who, Harry Potter, X-Men, Game of Thrones and many others.

Where can I find Gays in Space?

Gays is Space is available on Apple Podcasts and wherever else podcasts are available. You can also find episodes on our website, gaysinspacepod.tumblr.com. New episodes will be posted every other week, usually on Wednesdays. We’re also on Twitter and Facebook and you can email us at gaysinspacepod at gmail dot com

Who are you?

We’re two long-term fans of science fiction and fantasy who are happy to finally have enough gay content to actually talk about (though still not enough!)

How do you define “Gays”?

This podcast will focus on, most succinctly, male characters who love other male characters. The includes gay and bisexual men, men of color who are gay or bisexual, and trans men who are gay or bisexual. Obviously there are going to be instances where we’re out of depth when discussing racial issues or trans issues but we will do the best we can and we will always be open to constructive criticism on how to do better.

This also doesn’t mean that we won’t touch on or discuss female characters in the LGBTQ community, but they will not be the main focus. We’ll tackle non-binary characters on a case-by-case basis.
