Hello there,

My name is Genevieve May & I am a writer, photographer & magazine-creator.

I have had work published in The Murmur House, Thistle Magazine, The Teacup Trail, Dagda Publishing & Glass Kite Anthology, among others. My website is here.

What others have said about my work:
Topaz Winters on my poem 'shadows': "It's rare that a poem steals the air from my lungs in four lines, but that is the only way I can think to describe this piece. The brevity only makes it more powerful, and each word lends more gravity to the concept."

Jon Anātman: "Although no stranger to melancholy, Genevieve’s work is equally celebratory, exploring the joy of processing private thoughts and tender emotions, along with the eternal struggle to reframe personal experience through the tumultuous pressures of a hyper-modern world."

Rain Chudori: "I love, love your writing and photographs. You are an inspiration."

Rain Chudori on Silvae Magazine: "I've read your first issue and I couldn't stop gushing. It's lovely."

Over the past few years I have worked on Thistle Magazine & Silvae Magazine, both of which take up a lot of time & energy, while showing me what I can do & inspiring me to no end. However, I don't only want to be curating other people's work into a booklet or magazine. I want to be writing & curating my own work. The only reason I know for why I have not done this yet is the fact that I have never really believed in myself & I've let my inner critic & doubts stop me from putting myself out there, from really trying.

I took some time out for myself this autumn & it is the best thing I've done in a long time. In New York, I focussed on myself & I realised that I am capable of change & of being kind to myself. In this kindness I have started to believe in myself. It is worth pursuing my passions. But in order to do this I need finanical help!

I have always dreamed of collecting my poems into a zine or chapbook.

My aim is to finally publish my own chapbook of collected poetry in 2019, as well as drastically increase my amount of published work in journals & magazines. I adore writing & creating & would love to be able to share & inspire others with it. I think writing & art is extremely important in connecting us all & I also want to keep the magic of printed books alive by publishing my own. books & art have saved my life on many occasions!

Examples of what I will use your lovely pledges to fund:
- costs involved in writing, designing, editing, printing & shipping for my very first chapbook
- time I spend working on silvae magazine & my website
- being able to pay silvae contributors/offer them a print for free
- supporting independent writers & artists however I can & being part of the writer community
- travelling/entrance fee costs for creative events which I would otherwise be unable to attend
- maintenance costs for my analogue camera & work I do with it

Thank you for reading this & considering becoming a patron. If you would like to support me in my creative endeavours I'd be really grateful!
