Important: Patreon donations are charged monthly in US dollars. We like the Patreon model because it has the potential to provide constant funding throughout the year, but the US dollar thing is a hassle. Let us know if you find a good Canadian alternative to Patreon.

The Haida Gwaii Radio Society (HGRS) was founded in early 2017 with the purpose of (eventually) developing and operating a community radio station on Haida Gwaii, to promote local talent and disseminate information on local events, weather, emergencies, and/or sports and to provide airtime for local all people, cultural groups and non-profit societies.

We currently operate out of a rustic studio in Daajing giids (Queen Charlotte), British Columbia, providing weekly locally-produced content via our website as well as occasional broadcasts of live events in our communities.

Earlier this year HGRS won Reviewington’s coveted “Best New Radio Station” award, check out this article by frequent blog contributor George G. LaForge.

We’ve also been profiled in the Haida Gwaii Trader by Pete Moore
