Listening in, we hear the call to create. We don't know why, but it's there, alive, energizing when we nourish it, when we come to the table of our practice.

Listening outside ourselves, we hear a million+1 reasons why not to follow that call. Practical, rational, conventionally conditioned reasons that pull us in so many other directions and make us question the validity of taking time and risks for something whose gifts are so often invisible in form, yet rich with spirit.

There is an inherent connection between listening and acting upon the call to create, and our own healing and spiritual growth. Sometimes we can't find the right words for why it is like that. But knowing why matters far less than simply accepting the gift of what IS.

We creatives and artists are a soulful bunch. Visionary. Curious. Edgy. Unsatisfied. Sensitive. Misunderstood. And made to create. But all too often our creative expression - or call to it - gets diminished or pushed aside along the way... and we may wander from ourselves, or not see the point in keeping our practice alive, making our art, or bringing to life what wants to breathe outward from within.

In my experience as a lifelong artist, this is exactly why we need each other.
To remind, inspire and encourage one another to make our creative practice a priority, even if it is only ever just for ourselves.
Because it can make us fuller, better, more articulate and present people to the rest of our world.
Because we are worth feeling what we feel, doing what light us up with love and joy, and filling our wells so that we can share the fruit of it, or simply overflow as more-awake, more-alive embodiment into our human web of interconnection and care.

A big vision, I suppose. But I believe it. If you are familiar with my work, you know I love Joy and depth and the art of seeing+making connections on our creative paths. And you likely have picked up the fact that I see Creative Process as a potent gateway into our own self- and other-awareness.

If nothing else, it engages us with Life and can help keep our perspective dynamic.

Creative Practice is a way that we can stay engaged and open to our call as creative beings in the process of becoming and realizing. It is a way we can initiate and support our own healing, and it is inseparable from our relational and spiritual selves.

It is part of my service and mission to share invitations and encouragement with others who feel called to explore a Creative Practice.

As a self-employed artist motivated to help others not forget the importance of the creative seed planted in their heart, and committed to finding ways of livelihood that keep inspiration and creative-soul care accessible and affordable - I am starting this Patreon page.

It is a quiet beginning here for the moment, so if you've landed here, stay tuned via my newsletter (Creative Practice Notes) for perks, options, encouragement, and ways to give + receive coming soon!
