About Heather Hills

Welcome! I'm a professional harpist with a passion for performance. Music moves me, and I love sharing that experience with others. Harp in particular has a wonderful emotional power rarely experienced in the modern concert scene. I want to make that experience available to as many people as possible, as often as possible. I know that just hearing the harp can bring both joy and peace into people's lives. And I know that you feel the same way I do. How do I know? Because you're here right now, reading this.

Concerts can be costly and are certainly time-consuming. Some venues will kindly allow me to use their halls for free. But the number of such venues is limited, and there is still the cost of purchasing new music and maintaining the harp, not to mention the hours of preparation, planning, and practice that go into producing the top-quality music that you expect and deserve from a concert. That's a huge time commitment, and since practicing often has to be done around the edges of paying jobs, putting a program together can take months. This is, as you have guessed, where you come in. By becoming a patron, you can help me build an income that will allow me to keep more of my working hours free for practicing and concert planning, paving the way for more frequent high-quality concerts and injecting a unique and beautiful strain of music into the community. Along the way, you'll have access to behind-the-scenes stories, learn things about the harp and life as a professional musician, and become part of an exciting community of music lovers.

The possibilities for spreading an appreciation of harp music don't end with live performance, or with classical music, for that matter. As a church musician and freelance harpist, I often feel the need for tasteful arrangements of hymns or pop songs for use on the job or in concerts. In the absence of harp versions of beloved songs, I have started doing arrangements of my own, which I use in church, at gigs, and on the concert scene. I would like to make these arrangements available to other harpists like myself through publication. Again, the process of writing, editing, and engraving the music is time-consuming, and with little spare time, these projects often take me many months to complete. Purchasing copyrights is expensive, and small royalties practically ensure that it will be years before I make back what I invested. You can make it possible for me to share the songs dearest to my heart, and you can have a hand in the process yourself, suggesting songs that would enrich the harp repertoire and your enjoyment of a concert or worship service.

If this sounds like something you can get behind, please consider becoming a patron. You don't have to be a millionaire—you can join this community for as little as $1. You can support all my projects, or you can support a few. It's up to you. And if you decide you don't want to support me anymore, you can always back out. You're never stuck doing something that isn't valuable to you. And if harp music isn't up your alley, that's fine. Support what you love. But if you do join this endeavor, thank you! I know you won't regret it.
