Greetings fellow metalheads, prog geeks, hardcore kids and rockers. My name is Greg and I am the creator of HeavyNFLD. HeavyNFLD began as a YouTube channel in August of 2015 as a means to upload obscure metal albums from Newfoundland and Labrador for people to listen to. As time went on the channel grew in popularity and I ended up starting a Facebook page which has experienced similar growth. Now, HeavyNFLD is gaining popularity among the members of the St. John's metal scene and the amount of support and thanks I've gotten since the beginning has been humbling. It's something I never could have imagined. I never thought this project would gain traction.

The entire point of HeavyNFLD was to archive metal, prog and hardcore music from this province for posterity. There are so many talented bands, musicians and artists from Newfoundland who deserve to have their work heard by people all over the world. As time went on, though, I started pursuing new avenues of promotion besides just uploading songs to YouTube. I started filming shows downtown, began a semi-monthly podcast series, began writing reviews of local albums on Wordpress and more. Whatever way I can use to bring this music to people who would otherwise have never heard it I will use.

I've done this work for free ever since the beginning and I've never expected to get paid for any of it. HeavyNFLD will always remain a free and not-for-profit operation. That being said, there are things that I want to do for this project that require the funds that I simply don't have. That's why I started this Patreon page. I'm not expecting handouts, but if you appreciate what this project has done so far and the potential for what it could achieve in the future, consider donating. It's appreciated more than words can convey.

One of the first things I'm aiming to get is a new high quality microphone. This will allow me to do voice recordings for the podcast and record instrumentals such as the HeavyNFLD live show intro clip theme and the podcast theme. Full disclosure, I'd be using this mic in my own personal recording ventures as well.
