About Simona Ortolani

Hi! My name is Simona and I am - and feel - thoroughly Italian. I love my country. That is why 6 years ago I started my blogging adventure: www.wherelemonsblossom.it – a way to get people to know the ‘real’ Italy through my daily life experiences set in one of Italy’s most beautiful regions: the ‘Marche’.

I quit my dull day job (working for a state institution) more than one year ago and decided to live a more authentic life, devoting more time to my family and friends, to music (I’m an amateur violin player), volunteering, blogging, cooking.

Away from the stressful working life I discovered that the real joys of life are the simplest ones: reading a good book, cooking for friends, strolling about in the weekly open-air-market in my home town. I also realized, thanks to my friends all over the world, that many of those simple joys are typically Italian.

My friends started asking me advices on anything from ‘what kind of pasta suites better a vegetable sauce?’ to ‘what is the secret for a foamy cappuccino?

I will help you live your Italian side like an Italian, sharing with you my experience, my tips and secrets.

If you don’t have an Italian side you are: wrong (we all have an Italian taste for life even if we don’t know it), cheating, kidding or all the above --if you chose this answer you are most likely to have Italian ancestors!

Topics I will cover:

  • Italy’s quintessence (including all about coffee --stuff hipsters will never know);
  • Lifestyle (haggling at the open-air market);
  • Travelling (including a visit to the base of the Italian Aerobatic Team in Rivolto);
  • Attitude (flunked your exam? got fired? Italian tips to lift your spirits up and don’t give a damn);
  • Food & Wine (including the ultimate Lasagne according to grandma Lella’s recipe.

I am also considering the topic parolacce: real (I mean real) cursing like an Italian (it is not true that we Italians get the most creative at the coffee shop… wait till this topic comes out!).

Italians do it better? Do what? And how much better? And compared to whom?

I don’t know but if you subscribe you may end up finding out (and doing it better yourself too!)

I love you all, whether you patronize me or not (ma per favore iscrivetevi numerosi!)
