About Improvative Productions

Improvative Productions is run by San Francisco based improviser Dominica Malcolm, emerging from her vision to produce innovative improv shows.

Such shows include working with local talent as part of staged productions, similar to those she has developed or co-developed, as well as bringing talent from other cities to showcase their innovative and diverse spirit for the SF Bay Area community.

Shows Dominica has developed or co-developed include the reality TV style job interview show "So You Want a Job," the non-verbal improv show "[  ]," Supernatural-inspired "Salt 'n Burn: We Fight Monsters," and "The Secret Lives of Villains" - all of which take audiences on unique journeys and consider production value like music and costuming.

In development now is "Improvation: An Improvised Documentary About Innovative Improv and Festivals." Production started during The San Francisco Improv Festival 2018, and shows and interviews were recorded there and at Improvaganza The Hawaii Festival of Improv 2018. Click here for more information about the documentary.

In the future, Dominica also plans to produce a live web-streamed solo improv show where she will explore what it's like to live with autism, taking suggestions from an online audience. Title pending.

By signing on as a monthly Patreon subscriber, you will be assisting in the production costs associated with these shows and videos. Live shows produced and/or developed by Improvative Productions will be recorded and made available online, so you don't have to live in the San Francisco Bay Area to support this venture and enjoy our content.

Dominica launched Improvative Productions after years of enjoying improv at festivals, both as an audience member and a performer, as well as being part of the production committee of Femprovisor Fest in 2017-2018. She's performed at festivals in Honolulu, Juneau, San Francisco, and Hollywood.

Additionally, Dominica has served to record and edit shows for local, national, and international improv community members. This service is offered through Improvative Productions separately from the production wing that you will be helping to fund as a Patreon subscriber. For more information, check out our website.

If you want to sit in the audience for any of our live shows, have a look at the event calendar.
Goals
$5 of $500 per month
This will help with travel expenses to more improv festivals, either for one of Improvative Productions' shows to perform at a festival, for Dominica Malcolm to travel to a festival and interview improvisers for the documentary, or both.
