Thank you so much to anyone who has been determined enough to find my Patreon page!

Many of you will know me already but, for those who don't:

I am a writer, poet, hedgepriestess, tutu wearer, and a lover of everything that is soft bellied and smells of the wild earth and I passionately believe that happiness, creativity, and the seeing of beauty are radical acts of rebellion. Over the last seventeen years, I have led workshops and spoken internationally on death and dying and on connection and communion with She~Who~Is; the Sacred Feminine and the hallowed land, through all religions and none. I believe that there is a thread to follow through all of these; the river~beneath~the~river, and that there is much empowerment and healing for us all to be found in bringing it into consciousness. This is the work that I love to do. I am particularly interested in those places and aspects of life that are pushed to the edges and brushed under the carpet; the wasteground, the weeds, our death and dying, our sacred wounds, and on the 'small beauties' of life that we so often miss. I stand for kindness, the power of vulnerability, everyday acts of small subversion, wild acts of fierce courage, and the quiet magic of a whistling kettle and a nice cup of tea. In another life I would like to be a mycologist/librarian/lock keeper and I am sure that such people must exist but, for now, I have dedicated myself to connection, community, creativity, and cultivating wonder. I am good at wonder! I have been described as a “word witch”, a "lovely black feathered thing", and "a magically delicious cup of toadstool tea". I hope to live up to all of those.

In 2009 I left my job in public service to dedicate my life to my work as a hedgepriestess; through writing, through prayer, and through community. Since that time I have trained as a psychospiritual counsellor and worked with the dying and the bereaved, with gypsy travellers, and with young children. In 2014, along with my husband Simon, I founded Hedgetemple, a gathering place for those who long for Spirit, the wild, and community, allowing those who follow diverse spiritual paths, or none, to gather in good company and mutual respect in deep communion with the wild earth. So far our presence has been mostly online but there is so much more that I, and we, want to do.

Create..

  • a pack of 'Small Beauties' cards for inspiration and sharing.
  • my yearly 'Small Beauties' calendar.
  • a book of poetry 'rewilding' the female saints of the British Isles, in collaboration with wonderful artist friend of mine (but that is a secret).
  • a short book about creating 'home-made' funerals and reclaiming death from the funeral industry.
  • a longer book about the healing that would come from returning the Sacred Feminine to the centre of our lives and how Her loss impacts the way that we think about ourselves and society.
  • The encouragement of hedgeconsciousness'; one idea I have is to put up beautiful signs on 'wasteground' explaining to people why the wild things growing there matter to bees and other pollinators, to people, and to the healing of heart, spirit, and body.
  • at least two posts per week for my Radical Honey blog.
  • offer articles on hedgeconsciousness and death and dying to national newspapers and magazines.
  • online courses and a writing retreat.
  • increasing my online 'priestessing' through videos and live happenings.
  • begin to offer workshops and gatherings on connecting with nature and the sacred.
  • offer funeral services as a celebrant along with Simon. This is work that we love to do.
  • ultimately, to create community; the Souptemple  http://radicalhoneybee.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/soup... and the Honey House; a place where the dying could spend time in a beautiful place and experience the healing enchantment of bees, and perhaps to combine the two, with everyone helping each other because those of us who need help so often would also value the opportunity to offer it. Those are big dreams but dreams come true by being shared.

I would also like to offer more talks on reclaiming death and dying and on becoming hedge-conscious. For instance, I recently did a talk on 'Reclaiming the Outcasts and Rebels of the Hedgerows' and also attended the Elephant in the Room conference in Wales, where I spoke on reclaiming funerals..

We receive so much support from so many people but this Patreon page would give us an opportunity to know how many pennies we have to work with each month and allow us to confidently plan all sorts of wonders and happenings. Even the tiniest amount would help us massively and be such an affirmation of what we are trying to do. Thank you so much to anyone who is able to support us, either with money and/or with love and words of encouragement. It all helps so much.
