What's going on y'all?!
My name is John Ray Watts — a Nashville-based songwriter/ audio engineer originally from Columbia, South Carolina (Go Cocks!). I’ve been pursuing my dream of engineering and writing full time here in nashville for 3 years, during which time I’ve completed 2 engineering and 1 music business program, learning something new every day, and meeting tons of wonderful people, many of whom have asked me the same question: “How can we support you?”

Well the easiest and most honest answer is: Even working a part time job, the living costs of this profession in a city like Nashville is the #1 reason a lot of music industry folks have to pack up and head back home. I don't want to be another statistic of people who gave in too soon.. so i need your help. There are only 24 hours in a day and I'm using every second to make this music come to life while trying to eat on a regular basis.. I just need a little bit of help.

Unlock unreleased music and insiders-only content.
Hundreds of years ago, composers like Mozart and Beethoven depended on patronage for their livelihoods. Patreon is leading the independent artist revolution by connecting modern patrons to artists who can help make today’s world a little more beautiful.

For as little as $1 (or as many dollars as you'd like), you can become a patron of my music. This means that you become a partner and insider to the art-making process. You get access to exclusive patron-only content like behind the scenes photos, unreleased music, insider videos, and early announcements. In return, I get a little extra financial assistance so that I can focus, write, and record new music( mine and others) to share with you.

All funds I receive from Patreon go directly toward supporting my career in music. They'll cover expenses like copyrighting and distribution fees, studio time, guitar strings, etc. In exchange for your generosity, I promise to stay active and to be open and honest with you at all times (and also to fulfill all the promises made in that rewards section, obviously).

How is this different than Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Whatever?
The relationship between an artist and a patron is a special one. Unlike other social media platforms, the material I share here will be hot-off-the-press and a bit more open and authentic. And, since Patreon is so delightfully interactive, I’m always happy to respond to any comments/requests/questions you may have (which isn’t always possible on mass-media platforms, despite my best efforts).

That’s a wrap.
Songwriting and Audio Engineering are seriously the best jobs in the world, and I can’t do it without you. Music has impacted my life in ways I couldn’t start to explain in a single paragraph (or ten).
I love every single second of my work — the ink-stained fingers, the crumpled papers, the time spent in the spotlight, the communication with fans — all of it. If you’d like to play an active role in supporting my music and/or the survival of the independent musician in a corporate world, this is a great way to do it.

So, that’s my spiel, and this is what’s happening over here on Patreon. Thanks so much for reading. I hope to spend lots of time sharing, talking, and creating with you!
