This is for the dedicated server for Valhalla. I'm running this in my personal AWS account right now and these are the current specs for the server (read: https://aws.amazon.com/ec2/instance-types/#instanc... for more details):

  • On-Demand Windows t2.Large
  • 2 vCPU
  • 8 GB mem
  • 200 GB EBS for main volume

These are the server admins:
  • Jonky
  • Bonkey
  • Spacecat
For the sake of transparency, here is how the pricing works for EC2 (virtual servers in AWS):
https://aws.amazon.com/ec2/pricing/
https://calculator.s3.amazonaws.com/index.html

TL;DR: options in order of greatest to least cost -
  1. Pay monthly, stop at any time
  2. 'Promise' to pay for a year with no up-front cost <-- This is where we are with the server now. It costs about 70 a month (+20 for the drives/static IP) to maintain (see goal)
  3. 'Promise' to pay for a year with some up-front cost
  4. Pay for a year up front
  5. 'Promise' to pay for 3 years with some up-front cost
  6. Pay for all 3 years up front
Prices are set to pay for the ec2 instance right now and that's it, not including time/maintenance any other data transfer costs, though the data transfer may need to be added if it ends up being too much.

Thanks guys!
Goals
$0 of $85 per month
t2.Large no-upfront reserved.

This is where I'd like to be at a minimum. This would let us keep the server going without having to worry about turning it off. Anyone can access at any time without one of the admins having to log in to turn it on.
