About J-Source

As J-Source continues to expand our coverage and audience we couldn't be more grateful for our community of readers and patrons who have supported us along the way.

You have funded 76 stories from across Canada, J-Source/ProjetJ has published since June 2016 allowing us to pay all those freelancers – some of whom are journalism students. None of that would have happened without your monthly contributions.

So give yourself a pat on the back and please accept our thanks for your continuing support.

But don’t rest too long!

Now more than ever we need your support to spread the word about J-Source and to encourage others to support us through Patreon donations – – everyone in the media and interested in media and its future at a perilous time for news organizations and reporters.

If you appreciate and rely on J-Source/ProjetJ to keep you on top of news in the Canadian media or to learn the latest developments in journalism education and media research, now is the time to help us.

We have reached a critical juncture and need to broaden our financial backing both to survive and to continue to publish more of the stories you have supported over the past two and a half years.

Our continued goal is to promote national discussion about journalism and media as well as providing a source for news, research, commentary, advice and resources for industry professionals, scholars and students.

We know covering news and breaking stories remains vital to our audience and we want to do more of that from more locations across the country.

But we simply can’t afford simply to keep giving the content of J-Source away without getting anything back from our readers.

We have a plan under which a new organization - J-Schools Canada/ÉcolesJ – will help cover some of the costs of J-Source/ProjetJ but we need the support of our audience as well to keep going!

We hope you like our direction and we want your input!

We want to hear your ideas about J-Source/ProjetJ and what else we can and should be doing – Send us your comments and suggestions

You can help us by contributing and by spreading the word about our fundraising campaign – on Twitter use the hashtag #supportJsource.

Contributions from you and all your friends and colleagues will help us build a better J-Source that will continue to deliver vital news on our industry for a long time to come.

$160 of $500 per month
We already pay all our freelancers and student journalists for their J-Source contributions!  Now we can commission even more full-length feature stories from them from all across Canada.
