About Heart of Gold
In June of 2017, I, Karl Krüger, became the first person to paddle a SUP through the Inside Passage from Port Townsend, WA to Ketchikan, AK. I participated in the R2AK (Race to Alaska) for this feat. I paddled an average of 50nm/ day and completed the 750 mile course in 14 days. I made the passage with relative ease...and that got me thinking...it is possible to go farther and deeper into the zone that propelled me through the Inside Passage. I experienced a huge amount of doubt, disbelief and skepticism prior to my Inside Passage paddle from people I met...I also enjoyed intense and heartfelt support. These SUP expeditions approach a deeper exploration of human potential/ spirituality and strength. As a consequence of the path that has led me to be who I am today...I plan to paddle the Northwest Passage in summer 2019. I will paddle from Tuktoyaktuk to Pond Inlet on Baffin Island. I think the Inside Passage was simply a good, solid, START. There is much more to learn. I appreciate your support very much.
