About Kauila Haumea

I was born on March 29, 1973 in Hilo, Hawaii. When my brother was 3 and I was 4 years old, our parents found out that we had a disability that was called PMD, Pelizaeus-Merzbacher Disease, which is a neuromuscular disorder that is like a short circuit from my brain to different parts of my body. PMD makes me legally blind, have a speech impairment and have a hard time walking and balancing over long distances which makes me use a walker to keep my balance.

When I was 7, my biological father passed away. Before my father passed he got me interested in music, mostly Hawaiian Music when he played music for tourists on his tour bus. When I was a teenager, I was part of Special Olympics and after I was doing it for a couple of years I was told I couldn't do it anymore because I was too smart, or that is what I was told. When I was in High School, I started doing community service type activities such as Key Club and the Future Farmers of America. At my high school graduation I got a standing ovation because of the way my life has touched other people's lives, because when I sing it brings people to tears. In 1996, I graduated from Hilo Community College with an Associates Degree in Human Services and in 1998, I finished with part of my massage training. I started doing healing work back in 1989 through my singing, finished my massage training in 1998, got my reiki certification in 1997 and 1998. Became a Spiritual Healer

and Earth Stewards minister in 2007. Started my own business back in 1998 and I am still doing my healing work in many varieties such as singing, chanting, touch therapy and working with plants and animals.

In 2000, I moved into Hilo Hale O' Hana where I have been living by myself ever since. My mom passed away June of 2010 and my step-dad passed in November of the same year. Some days it is enjoyable living by myself and other days it isn't enjoyable because it gets lonely and I wish that I had somebody in my life that I could share my life, love and time with.

I enjoy spending as much time outdoors as possible with my hands working the land or as much time in and or near the ocean. I do recreational paddling with the UH canoe club. Being on the ocean helps to keep me centered and helps to keep me in shape. I also go paddle boarding in the summer months. Singing also helps to keep me calm and centered.

My heart is really into healing the world as much as I can. I would like some help acquiring the funds so I can find out what the healing customs around the South Pacific are. I would like to travel throughout the South Pacific in order to increase my healing knowledge. I have so much love inside me that it is hard for me to contain it all. Singing and chanting is the easiest way that I can share my love with other people.

Hey, thanks for getting me started! This goal allows me to begin upgrading my equipment, such as getting my own webcam so I can make my healing songs from the comfort of my own home.
