I am an artist specializing in the unusually paired mediums of scratchboard and watercolor. When I was 18, I began on a path to become a visual artist. I received my BFA in Illustration from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 2000. I continued my education at the School of Visual Arts in New York City directly post 9/11, where I attained an MFA in Illustration as a Visual Essay where I honed my technical skill in scratchboard and watercolor.

My inspiration is drawn off of my interest in subconscious symbolism, thought, and dreams. Animals play a very heavy role in my process, as I see them as a pure representation of symbolistic emotion. Unicorns, in particular, play a special role in what I create. In style, I am influenced by other atmospheric symbolism-heavy artists, such as William Blake and Rosaleen Norton. My primary hours of activity are the night, as I see a romantic loneliness in creating art while the rest of the world sleeps. For inspiration in creation, I traveled to Svalbard during the polar night for two months as an artist in residence to experience the full potential in working in a dark alien landscape. Years later, I visited northern Iceland, and experienced the wonder of a solar eclipse, blazing aurora, and shooting stars.
In addition to my primary skill as a visual artist, I also enjoy writing fantasy/sci fi fiction, and have a voice that could knock down a house.

I create, I dream, I wake, I fight.
