About ajaydeep

Being an artist is never easy, this much is certain. However, when I took those first steps towards becoming a writer I never really knew just how difficult it would be. I never thought to consider the fact that all of the effort that I was going to put into writing my first novel would end up being for naught simply because it wouldn’t be published.

Everyone I have spoken to since I finished my novel has told me that the very fact that I finished it in the first place meant that I had done something extraordinary, and I tend to agree with them. Writing a novel is a grueling process, mostly because one has to go it alone. You don’t just have to create a plot that is, at least for the most part, original, you have to make sure that the characters are genuine and act the way real people would do, you have to make sure that the language you use invokes genuine emotion and visualization and you have to ensure that all of this comes together in a complete package thus creating a novel that is well balanced and fun to read.
However, in spite of the fact that I have accomplished the gargantuan task of writing my first novel, I have started to have serious doubts about it ever being published. I have gone to an inordinate number of publishers and have remained unsuccessful in my attempts to get my book published and by this point I am utterly dejected and completely broke. I have exhausted all of my funds trying to find a publisher and am now at the point where I might not have enough money left over for food, and paying rent is going to become very difficult indeed.

My book is the single greatest accomplishment of my life. I want people to read it and I don’t want it to be ignored simply because publishing houses don’t understand it. Hence, I have decided to give it away for free. I feel like this will allow me to cater to a wider audience and build a base of readers who enjoy my work.

However, I would like to keep writing. I would like to write a lot more novels. Therefore, I would like to humbly request that you donate some money if you like the book. Donate some money so that I can pay rent and buy food, so that I can focus all of my time on writing and not have to worry about working at a terrible job so that I can afford to keep myself fed and housed.

Donate for the sake of art, for the sake of literature. Donate so that someone who has taken the risky first steps towards trying to focus all of their time on their art can successfully make a career out of it. I don’t want to be rich. I just want enough to survive.
