around the turn of the century I worked on proprietary (closed-source), for-hire technology solutions for various for-profit entities (in-house "day job" commercial stuff)... dot dot dot

a little over 10 years ago I began using trade name kuzetsa, and the only tech projects I work on lately are FOSS/Libre or otherwise a flavor of peer-directed, community-driven work.

I'll still do FOSS/Libre work without a sponsor, but:

  • zero isn't a living wage (except maybe in sci-fi)
  • "free" infrastructure tends to be non-libre (proprietary),
in addition to "you get what you pay for" features like
    baked-in analytics & user-tracking, restrictions on free
    speech, etc.

pay what you can.

or don't.
