I'm Leila, a Palestinian author, illustrator, and activist born in Chicago and living in exile in Detroit. I make zines, comics, prints, books, and art about Palestinian diaspora experience, migration, social justice movements, migraines, and occasionally my dreams!

By becoming a monthly supporter of my work for as little as $2/month, you can help sustain my creative work, which fuses art with activism. Through my work, I'm dedicated to re-imagining and re-envisioning real futures of justice and return for my people.

You'll also indirectly help to support my work on Maamoul Press, a low-profit/no-profit community arts initiative and micro press supporting the work of marginalized comics artists and printmakers that I co-founded with Aya Krisht and Zeinab Saab.

Patrons get access to occasional diary/dream comics, behind-the-scenes previews of work that is not yet published, and will be entered into raffles and giveaways!

CURRENT/UPCOMING PROJCETS

Biladi Fanzine
I'm working together with French-Moroccan illustrator and comics creator Merieme Mesfioui to put together this zine supporting the cultural and academic boycott of Israel.

Screen printed copies of Smuggling Books Across the Border
Working on hand screen printing (and going back to hand thread binding) copies of Smuggling Books Across the Border, my 2015 zine containing all the illustrations from my Palfest Series.

Series of Painted Portraits
I'm dipping my toes into painting again! I've been working on a series of small portraits, but they are yet to be revealed.

"Abdelrazaq’s cartooning is a form of bequeathed needlework — a conscious reformulating of her heritage...one that Abdelrazaq visualizes for us through both the funny anecdotes of Ahmad’s day-to-day living and through its searing jolts. Baddawi holds Ahmad’s story tightly and in doing so holds the stories of others like him. Consequently his story becomes a tatreez in itself, an intricate and personalized pattern of home and memory in the face of displacement and forgetting: a textured document of survival.” -L.A.
