Want to release the horse whisperer inside of you?
Interested in joining Gertrude on her quest to solve the mysteries
behind the series of bizarre deaths on Seal Island?
Or maybe you would like to be named as a character in my next novel?

My name is Laura Hesse and I would like you to join me for the ride!

I am both a writer and screenwriter (with multiple options). I write everything from holiday themed YA novels for the horse addict in the family (One Frosty Christmas and A Filly Called Easter are Amazon best sellers) to paranormal thrillers and charming black comedy cozy murder mysteries that feature Gertrude, a marvelously talented pot-bellied pig, and her best friend, RCMP Sgt. Betty Bruce, who both seem to have a penchant for discovering bodies  on a not-so-sleepy little west coast island.

Segments of my own strange and adventurous life have found their way into all of my novels. One novel, Peter Pan Wears Steel Toes, is based on my life as a Timber Cruiser in northern Ontario in the early 1980's. Close encounters with bears, all too friendly skunks, ball lightning, and magnetite (magnetic rock that screws with a compass), were daily occurrences.

From 2002 to 2007, I spent six months of the year traveling from craft show to craft show, Christmas show to Christmas show, one horse symposium to another, selling my books. The rest of the year I spent writing. I sold over 30,000 books along the way and made a good living as an independent author, but a steep down turn in sales in 2009 meant rejoining the Establishment. I currently work part time as a legal secretary, but am working towards getting back into writing full time and helping others realize their dreams of becoming a published writer.

This is where you come in. For $2.00 a month (less than a cup of coffee), $5.00 per month (a hamburger a McDonalds), and up to $25.00 per month ( a reasonably priced dinner for one), you will receive not just free e-books, audio books, and advanced reader copies of new releases, but have the chance to become involved in my publishing company. You will share my progress, experience the highs and lows of working out plot lines and character arcs, plus have the opportunity to participate in the writing of my next novel. You can even throw some ideas into the mix if you want. All of my patrons, if they so choose, will receive a sponsorship mention and shout out on my website.

Not sure if Patreon is for you?
Here are some answers to questions you might have.

Do I have any responsibilities?
You can be a silent supporter of the arts or you can dive into the world of independent publishing, get to know me, join in my highs and lows as I work through a new story, toss in some suggestions, etc. That is completely up to you!

Can I stop donating in the future if I can't afford it?
Yes! You can cancel or adjust your pledge by putting a dollar cap on the amount, either in total or by month, for any reason at any time.

What if I want to support more than the highest tier?
Well, thank you. If you live on Vancouver Island, maybe we can throw in a private show by a professional musician or two. Seriously, you can have full "shout outs" on my web page, or stay a wall flower in the background. Simply write in whatever amount pleases you during the check out process.

Do I have to pay in US Dollars?
Nope! Everything is shown in US dollars on the website, but you may use any currency and it will be automatically converted.

I've included a book trailer video for those who don't know my work. For more information on my books or to contact me, visit either my Amazon page or website at

May all your mounts be swift and your trails an easy climb,
Laura Hesse

$0 of $1,800 per month
$1,800/month subscriptions will allow me to quit the day job as a legal eagle secretary and write, develop, and market my work full time as well as start up a new Youtube Channel and Facebook Channel - Bedtime Stories with Laura Hesse.

Bernie (you know, weekend with Bernie lol), our family's old 1988 Chevy motor home wants to see the sights. We've promised Bernie more road trips and adventures. The great thing is that thanks to modern technology I can take my work with me and write in some of the most beautiful spots on Vancouver Island. I plan on doing some live story readings in some of these locations.

Overall, my goal is to start up a Sunday night live media show, Bedtime Stories with Laura Hesse, geared towards the reading of original short stories for children, as well as begin a new paranormal thriller for teens (the screenplay is already optioned), and complete the Gumboot & Gumshoe black comedy series. This all takes start up funds patrons, get patreonous!
