About Many Rooms

Hey there! If you’re reading this that means you’ve been directed here to check out my patreon page. Thank you for that! And welcome.

I wanted to start by going into some detail as to why I decided to join patreon as a creator.

When I began touring under the name Many Rooms in 2015, I felt a responsibility as an artist to be as real, and transparent, and accessible as I could be to the people I get to interact with on a daily basis. I learned very early in life that we (all human beings) need mutual vulnerability in order to thrive in relationship with each other. I noticed how good music can be at facilitating that. For a long time I’ve had a strong desire to partake in that cycle of goodness to the best of my ability, not only in the music that I write, but in the way that I treat the people around me.

In 2015 I was doing mostly DIY tours, lots of super intimate house shows where I felt like I was making deep connections with multiple people every night. I made a lot of friends during that time, and felt like I was PART of a community, not just outside looking in.
As the years have passed, my fan base has grown, and I’ve been playing “bigger” tours with more attendance, and it has gotten gradually harder and harder to make and keep those relationships that I used to make on a regular basis. It's made tour not as enjoyable for me and manifested this fear that I’m not doing a good job of pursuing what I believe gives me meaning.
So why patreon?

What drew me in initially was the potentially low rate at which patrons can subscribe to get content from creators they enjoy. While something along the likes of a VIP package only happens on tour, is usually pretty expensive and is regulated to an hour or so with an artist (not to mention how awkward it can be to feel like you’re only allotted a certain time with another human being) patreon is exponentially cheaper, better for rising artists who aren’t at the VIP level yet, and gives you a chance to actually connect with and stay connected with creators over a long period of time. I feel like patreon allows me to create goals for myself that I can work for, and helps me fund them so that I’m not in a financial hole. contrary to popular belief, record labels do not pay for everything. And what they do pay for, I ultimately owe back. It doesn’t get easy after you’re signed. You still gotta grind!
With that being said, i want to make it very clear that I am not struggling financially. I acknowledge my privilege to be pretty comfortable as I pursue music. But in order to do more, to create more content and songs and covers and videos, I have to invest more, and it’s difficult to do that while I'm still working your way up. I want to be able to do that for the people who have supported me this long, but I can’t ignore the fact that it requires asking for help.
So this is me asking for your help! But this is also me offering a better way to get to know each other, outside of social media where I project a version of myself that isn’t fully real.

If you’ve gotten this far then you’re a real one. I know it’s a lot. And I’m almost done. Just need to explain the tiers to you!
