Hello, my name is Mary Daniels.

I am a storyteller, published author, (Wild Awakening: 9 Questions That Saved My Life), connector, community creator, lover of real conversations, Wild Woman, Failed Goodist (someone who has failed at saving mankind and does ‘doing good’ badly), and a closet Permachick (a lover of the Permaculture Philosophy),  a lot I know... Oh and I have a dream!

My motivation to creating this space
When I was 24 years old I found myself on the side of a bridge in London with my baby in my arms ready to jump. I would love to say that this was the lowest and worst moment in my life, sadly it wasn’t.

I was lost.

I have had a crazy beautiful life, both disproportionately incredible and disproportionately dysfunctional, and with varying degrees of abuse at all stages both physical, emotional, sexual, mental, and spiritual.

By the time I reached ‘adulthood’ (aged 18), my upbringing had destroyed my sense of self, identity and confidence. My body violated, my virginity stolen and my faith, family and ability to love and take care of myself rocked to its core.  As my younger self I had never grieved for what I had loved, lost and needed, the lethal cocktail of lost, crazy, wild and self sabotaging continued way into my adult life, even beyond that bridge moment. I didn’t know who I was, what I was I doing and the mess I was creating.

One of the things that kept me sane as a child was my love of stories.  I was a passionate reader. The library was my favourite place, my sanctuary and safe haven. Books were sacred to me, more specifically, stories that taught you something, stories that moved you, inspired you, made you think and reflect on how you were living and being.

For me the best stories of all, (apart from the ones about love) were the stories that were powerful life lesson, real. I loved and love stories that give you permission to be yourself, (something I am slowly learning become more comfortable with as I get older ;-). It is this permission to be ourselves that is the inspiration behind my dream.

My Dream...

  1. My ultimate dream, desire and focus is to simply live the life I was born to live and below are the things that bring me the most joy around my work. If I am meant to be doing something else or be somewhere else, life will show me ;-).
  2. To launch my own Publication and Production company starting here, online, where I along with others can share medicinal stories, (stories that open the mind, heal the heart, soothe the soul and lighten the spirit). This will be a space to connect, be real, be ourselves - no judgement.
  3. My other unfolding dream is to continue to inspire myself and others (especially young people), to remember who we really are. To launch a space that is all about 'Real Conversations', conversations that connect people, internally and externally, (if there is such a thing). Inner and outer peace.
  4. My big, badass, 'Failed Goodist' dream is to set up a Charity/Foundation that works with and runs mentoring/coaching/leadership and self growth programmes for women and young people, especially girls, who are struggling with their identity, power and feeling lost.  Together we will co-create a pathway, almost 'rites of passage' for young people that support this journey of knowing yourself, creating community and becoming conscious leaders.

What next?
To earn enough money where I can support myself in a healthy, happy and balanced way. To step back from parts of the ‘day job’, which currently involves a lot of exhausting trips travelling back and forth, from the sea to the city, and become a full-time storyteller, community creator and sharer of powerful lessons learned. I love a lot of what I do, however the commuting, chaos and time my day job encompasses is taking me away from my love of writing, storytelling, day dreaming and freely connecting with whatever inspires me in the moment.

By living my life as fully as I can, I hope to inspire others to do the same; to connect, share, be real and heal. I believe passing on the powerful lessons from our stories is food for the soul and medicine for the spirit. They help us navigate this crazy thing called, “life" and most importantly remind us that we are not alone.

So how will your patronage help?
Your patronage will give me the valuable and needed time, space, stability and ability to connect and share. It will allow me to write, produce and publish a series of books, podcasts, documentaries, images and eventually movies!

It will enable me to become a full-time storyteller, (writing and speaking) and a facilitator of 'Real Conversations', something I feel is needed.

I would love to go on this journey with you and thank you in advance for even reading this far.

With love,
A crazy dreamer, Permachick, Wild Woman and recovering 'Goodist'! xx
