Hi everyone, Matthew here!

I started making science videos because I wanted to start a snowball rolling - a snowball that might motivate and inspire people... to explore, to think and to do great things.

It seems to me that there aren't many things in the world so surely positive and beneficial to everyone and everything alive than helping people to better understand the universe around us.

We all know almost nothing, and all still all have so much to learn.

These are the missions I've set for myself:

  • To make quality science education as accessible as oxygen.
  • To nurture curiosity.
  • To stand in the way of environmental destruction.
  • To encourage innovation and courageous thinking.

With the help of you, my patrons, I will be able to keep learning, to keep making, and to inspire many, many more people.

It costs me around $15,000 a year to run all of the science media stuff that I do, so every dollar is a huge help.
Tiers
Sequoia Seed Tier
$2 or more per month 3 patrons
This might be the smallest tier, but small things can grow into the tallest trees in the world (given time (and some delicious sunlight)).

With this tier you'll get early access to my videos and exclusive behind-the-scenes content

Cyclo Tier
$3.14 or more per month 5 patrons
This tier is named after my dog, who is named after Cyclopentanoperhydrophenanthrene, because my dad is a massive nerd.

With this tier, you'll get early access to my videos, exclusive behind-the-scenes content, and your name (or, if you'd rather, a pseudonym) will appear on the wall of my future Science in the Bath episodes.

I'll also tell my dog what your name is, but he might not remember... he's got a lot on his mind.

Ganymede Tier
$10 or more per month 7 patrons
If you choose this tier, then I will take you to ganymede, one day, if it's possible for me to do so.

Also, you will have the chance to come to a video shoot (each year), and after a few months of supporting me, I will send you a special one-of-a-kind test tube containing a science fact that I will handwrite for you.

You'll also get all of the rewards from the Cyclo tier.

Megatherium Tier
$50 or more per month 0 patrons
This tier is named after one of my favourite of the extinct megafauna: the giant sloth.

Things I like about it: it's giantness, it's chill attitude to swallowing massive fruit and vegetables whole, the fact that it (sort of) gave us the avocado.

If you are an absurdly massive legend, and you choose this tier, then you'll get all of the rewards from the other tiers and I will also draw a picture of you (I am bad at drawing, but I'll do it anyway), and put it at the end of every full-length video I make, with your name next to the picture, and a note to say that you're a very important backer of my work.

Goals
11 of 256 patrons
Spread the word - when we hit 256 (a nice round number, by binary standards), I will send all of you a video explaining the science behind how you can make it look like your hand is on fire without hurting yourself.
