About Matumaini Means Hope

Matumaini is an orphanage housing over 30 young girls in the heart of Africa. Its caretakers and benefactors have done an amazing job providing what shelter, food, education, and care they can; however, the girls of Matumaini still struggle well below the poverty line.

Help me - as an American woodworker and maker living here in Congo - and our team of other awesome volunteers not only repair, replace, and/or renew the girls' living facilities; but to also ensure and bolster their access to basic necessities like:
  • Food
  • Clean water
  • Shelter
  • Utilities
  • Clothing
  • Education costs
  • Transportation
  • Healthcare

In Swahili, Matumaini means "hope," and these girls live up to that name. They are smart, funny, full of sass, ambitious and hopeful; and I know what a great blessing it would be for them to know that there is a community of people, even if you are a world away, who cares about them.
