Hello! I'm MCM, an Emmy-nominated screenwriter and author, and I want to give you inside access to my brain. So grab that hacksaw and let's go!

I write, a lot: springboards, premises, outlines, drafts and polishes... I produce, on average, 6,000 words of content per day. That's a good-sized novel every two weeks. Lots of that is freelance work, and will eventually end up in a TV show...

But the rest is speculative: hours of effort that'll probably go poof; not because the product is bad, but because "we already have a dog show," or "we're looking for gritty comedies this year" or "I don't like socks"...

I'm constantly creating content that, statistically speaking, nobody will ever see. So I thought to myself: that might be fun to share on Patreon!

Why support me?

You'll get to see the evolution of crazy. Scribbles that turn into pitches, and bibles, and scripts — and maybe even actual TV shows and books. I'm always creating stuff, so this'll be a treasure trove of stupidity.

You'll also get posts about writery things, dissecting important topics like story structure and character, and more-important subjects like "how to make your story editor hate you." Very important insights. Very.

If you've ever been curious about the life of a professional writer, this is your way in. I'm going to give you the whole enchilada.

A very important note about disclosure:
Legally, I'm not allowed to post details about some shows I'm working on. You won't see scripts or notes from those freelance gigs, so it's not QUITE the full enchilada.

A little bit about me:

These days, I mostly work on animated preschool series, like True and the Rainbow Kingdom (TVO/Netflix), Justin Time GO! (Disney/Netflix) Ollie the Boy Who Became What He Ate (CBC) and Terrific Trucks (NBC/Sprout). A bunch of years ago, I created an award-winning show called RollBots (YTV/4Kids), and more recently co-created Shutterbugs (TVO).

Beyond that, I write novels, like  The Vector (a bioterror thriller); Typhoon and Polarity (sci-fi); Fission Chips and The Scarlet Lemming (comedy-mysteries); Risk the Queen and The Bell Hop Plot (mysteries); The Threader in Autumn and These Blackened Waves (fantasy); and Eviction Notice and Martian Idiots (sci-fi). I also created a timelapse novel (delivered via an app) called Dirt, and occasionally livewrite books (created in realtime, online, and adjusted based on input from the audience). Years ago, I wrote The Pig and the Box, about the evils of Digital Rights Management.

My sensibilities run a pretty wide gamut, but in the future, I hope to land some primetime TV gigs, as well as feature films. So (if you become a patron) you'll get to see how THAT pans out. Heh. <whimper>

Thank you.
