A box to open, a dress to carefully unfold, a letter with a few lines of faded script, a voice to find and a story to follow. Then the delight of preparing the items for display and sharing  the story with the wider world! And your support can help make all that happen!

Through this Pateron, I intend to bring you blog posts, photos, videos and thoughts from work behind the scenes, things you don't usually see when you visit a museum.

Here is a sample of the sort of things I will present for my Patreon Companions:
A story about a doll's dress in Hatfield
A video of me hanging a spoon in GreenfieldI am fortunate to have connections with several different local museums. I serve on the board of the Historical Society of Greenfield, and work as the Collections Assistant at the Hatfield Historical Museum. I have been the textile conservation specialist at Memorial Hall in Historic Deerfield for eight years, and I act as a textile consultant to other institutions locally. In every post, I'll include links to the associated museum, and I sincerely hope you visit them, join, them, and volunteer there or at your own local museums.

I am committed to preserving the past in order to share it with the present and prepare for the future. History is for everyone, and it starts now. I expect to produce a couple paid posts a month, with additional free content. By doing this Pateron, I hope to be able to offer my skills to small local museums operating on tiny budgets, where I might not be able to help otherwise. Thank you for joining me and supporting the work of small New England museums!

Unboxing videos! Museums have a LOT of boxes and bags and drawers and closets; at this level of support I will make exploratory videos to share with you as we find out what's behind door number one or in textile box 12. Some of these videos may become public, but not all of them!

Rather a lot of work behind the scenes has unexpected crafty elements. Get extra notes on how things work, recommendations, possibly tutorials or trials as I go along.

Once a month I will share with you a digital version of one of the historic photos or other ephemera in the museum collection, as well as all lower levels, and thanks!
