Hello, and welcome to the chaos! My name is Kitty Chandler, I'll be your tour guide this day, please keep your hands and arms inside the coach and don't feed that, you'll only encourage it.

After a little over a decade of trying to become a traditionally published writer I realized I cared more about getting the best story out there that I could manage rather than being published by a major publishing house (although having a staff of designers and publicists really sounds nice). Several years ago I began self-publishing, awkwardly and with some mistakes, starting with an anthology or "braided novel" of urban fantasy fiction and continuing with an alt-history fantasy novel and the first novel in a series about young beauty blogger witches, available on Amazon. I've also written mystery, science fiction, and dipped a toe in a few other genres, and am currently working through my backlog of over half a dozen novel drafts as well as drafting all new material.

I write a lot.

In my ideal world, I would be self-supporting purely as a writer. But to be honest even if I were making my current pay level by writing I wouldn't quit my day job entirely. I work at my family business, I love it, I would never leave them in the lurch by up and quitting. What I am looking for with Patreon and from you guys is to supplement my income such that I can, on a slow day, take the last couple hours off and go and write.

The other objective for Patreon is considerably more nebulous, so we'll call this the if I make it above and beyond goal. A few years ago my partner and I bought a house that, while very solid and likely to last another 170 years (yes it's that old), needs some serious cosmetic work. I want to put some more floor-ceiling bookshelves in the office, we have paneling in major need of refinishing, several trees need to be trimmed back, etc. No individual thing is very expensive but over time it will add up. Also, we've been very lucky so far but our oldest cats are 10 years old and aging, and as we have six of them I expect there will be vet trips in our future.
Tiers
Penny for the Guy
$1 or more per month

Access to twice-weekly updates with short stories on Thursday and mockumentary-style excerpts on Friday, my projected writing schedule at the beginning of the month, a booklet of 1 page synopses of everything I've been working on updated every six months because there's a lot and it changes with relative frequency. Every six months or so.

Cherry on Top
$5 or more per month

You will get: access to short stories and mockumentary excerpts, my schedule, synopses, plus a vote on which short story/novella/etc I work on this month. I do not promise to complete it, but I will work on it regularly and it will be worked into my schedule for the month.

Chekhov's Armory
$10 or more per month

You will get: access to regular updates, my schedule, synopses, a vote on which short story/novella/etc I work on this month, and access to the Wiki-type entries I make as I make them. Not the mockumentary bits but the extensive notes I make for myself, typically in a wiki format because it's easiest for me to keep track of.

Tucker and Roll
$25 or more per month

You will get: access to regular updates, my schedule, synopses, a vote on which short story/novella/etc I work on this month, access to musings on writing craft, access to the wiki entries, and one Tuckerization on a work in progress. (A Tuckerization is where you get to name a minor character for yourself or someone else.) Look, I hate naming things. I will post a list of what corporations, people, etc need names and you get to submit names.

Goals
$18 of $190 per month
This will substitute for one hour per day of pre-tax day job income.
