Monkey Wrench is a live, monthly comedy show based in Chicago hosted by Arish Singh. Monkey Wrench has been running since June 2017 and it considers itself little more than a leftist plot against the ruling class and the worldview they underwrite.

The patreon pitch, and then more background on the show beneath it:

We want to set up a patreon so we have a bigger budget to pay our performers (none of the money goes to Arish Singh and we will clearly itemize where the funds go for each show that used money from the patreon).

With just a budget of two hundred dollars a month, we could pay more than many Chicago comedy shows typical do, and then use all our ticket proceeds exclusively to donate to leftist causes --- previous shows have donated to  Moms United Against Incarceration, The Chicago Community Bond Fund, Sex Workers Outreach Project, Democratic Socialists of America, an EU union drive, and  a UNICEF donation to children in Yemen affected by the US-bankrolled Saudi war.

An even larger budget would help us to afford costs for bringing in comedians and special guests from other cities for special shows. Previous show have included special guests have included Matt Christman and Felix Biederman of Chapo Trap House, comedians such as Jake Flores, Josh Androsky, Jamie Loftus, and James Fritz.

We've been lucky to have many great guests willing to perform for free, but venue, transport and  and sound/tech/set production have all been paid for privately. Having a little more budget would expand a lot of what we could do with the show.

We have no illusion that comedy in itself can substantially change politics. It's not at all a  substitute for real organizing and activism. That's exactly way we donate from each show to leftist activist cause.

But we also think it's worthwhile to try create a space within the comedy world we work in, a world often dominated and compromised by commercial interests, to freely engage with issues of the left. Our dumb aim is simply to change the culture we live in. Please support our stupid ambitions.
