About onebrokedavid

Notice:
Full disclosure, I do not expect this to be entirely funding the game. This is more of a means to help with its development and maybe add more to the game. I am a "broke" college student who is looking to start a portfolio for game design and this was my way of kick-starting my career. I absolutely want to get this game off the ground and will do anything in my power to do so, even if I have to build it entirely on my own.

About the game:
I'm already pumping out ideas for the story, characters, and enemies along with the core mechanic around it. This game is meant to be in the style of Ori and the Blind Forest, Limbo, and Inside. To put it in a genre I would say puzzle platformer with organic platforms. Organic platforms are what I call platforms that make sense to the environment.

Story and Mechanics (so far):
Grayscale starts in a world similar, but very different to our own. Its main difference is in the physics by which its environment is changed. The world hinges on two planes, one lighter, the other darker. Neither of these planes is more dangerous than the other. Objects or creatures may have different properties in either plane, or they might not exist at all. In order for an area to be turned from one plane to the other, a loud enough sound must be made. The soundwave, as it travels, converts the area around the source to the opposite plane. Faela, the main character of this story, was with her people, whom had run from their previous home which used to be a vast city. Recently, their world had been starting to slowly become consumed by gray masses that had simply been named, the still. These "stills" were the result of too many "plane bubbles" that had collected and merged into an incredibly unstable convergence of space and time. Those who get caught in these rifts are slowed until they are frozen in time. The only way for this to end is through a frequency of sound used by Faela's people to convert all surrounding bubbles to one plane. This would fix the gray anomalies. The only way to do that though and affect a large enough radius, would be to return to their old home and activate an incredibly powerful tower that was used to generate the frequency over an incredible expanse. But living in their city is an ancient beast that was the reason Faela's people left to begin with, and the reason why no one has returned. It slumbers in the city, living in both planes, guarding its taken home.

Contact Info and closing insurance:
If for whatever reason I must close the patreon (incredibly unlikely) I will make sure that the money is refunded and you can hold me to that. hell bug me on twitter or youtube if I don't, seriously it will get my attention. Also feel free to stop by my twitter or me and my friend's youtube channel. Whenever I am on I would love to talk to anyone that wants to. (will create an intro video soon as well to share who I am and what I'm about)

Legality Reminder:
sharing the concept art of project "Grayscale" online or claiming it as your own is without my permission, and it will not be tolerated. If you wish to share it to some capacity, ask me first, but absolutely do not claim it as your own. I have the original files to back up my claims as well, just in case this becomes a problem. Do not try to claim the idea of this game as your own either.
