Hi there, awesome people!

Open Piano for Refugees places freely accessible grand pianos in the streets of Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Slovakia (more countries to come...Whoop Whoop): Everyone is welcome to play. This year (2018) we will be already having about 100 open-piano-days in 18 different cities. Although we get almost no funding from anyhere, a team of 10 people is working freaking much in their spare time to realize this. We bring the people together through music, since it makes no difference where you are from, which language you speak and what your religion is. Music connects. And yeah, it is sooo much fun to actually play on a well-tuned and really high-quality instrument outdoor for and with some strangers. Additionally we organize acoustic concerts from international musicians. As a support act we normally have a refugee band playing.

DoReMi - the social music institute: With the donations of our open pianos we opened up a social music institute in Vienna called DoReMi. We try to make music lessons affordable for everyone, that's why it is: "pay what you can". We just started it and already have 72 pupils (mostly socially disadvantaged people) and we want to grow in the next year to be able to teach about 120 people. A special thing is as well, that the lessons are together with refugees and austrians in double-teaching and also some of our teachers are refugees themselves. Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Oud, Saz, Oriental singing, Jazz-singing, oriental percussion, viola, flute.

So, as a Patreon you would actually support the work we are doing, help creating a platform for interaction and to give refugees the chance to present themselves positively in public. Of course, you also support the positive effect we are having on people: We guarantee in creating some smiles!

When we reach 500 patrons, we'll make 2 short videos a month about the background of our refugee-students of our music institute and why they decided to leave their hometown.
