Permaville

is creating a more sustainable world

In October 2018, I packed up gear and walked to Mexico from Georgia. I’m now in Mexico heading further south. I started this trip primarily as a way to reduce living costs. I also like to camp and explore the world.

I have no physical destination in mind. I hope to communicate with people how we may create a more sustainable world.

People have been amazingly supportive throughout this trip. Complete strangers have offered water, food, funds, places to stay and great conversation. This motivates me to keep on. Thank you folks!

Trip Log

In the first 199 days, I walked 1600 mi / 2600 km through seven states. Here’s a brief tally of the miles walked and dollars spent in each state:
I spend about 17 dollars a day and earn about 12 dollars a day from cash donations, online donations and revenue from an online course about sustainable living. In the first 199 days, I’m at a net loss of 5 dollars a day.

Purpose of this pilgrimage

The world is big. I like to explore new places in our world. I am also passionate about farming and sustainable living. I think farm education should be a core concept of general education. All humans need to know how to farm and thus how to survive on earth. This should be a central theme of school. Part of this journey is to share this message with people.
