hello all! welcome and thank you for checking out my page. so introductions...

my name is phoebe and i'm a costume designer/maker from london. i'm just starting out in my career, and facing the same dilemma as many creatives out there: i'm trying to find a way of making a living doing what i love. my favourite genres are science fiction, fantasy and period drama, so my work usually involves creating characters and costumes within those settings. i have a huge respect for historical fashion, and that's where i get a lot of my inspiration, as well as the work of other costume designers of course! it's all about learning from each other right?! i'm constantly in the process of learning new techniques, improving old ones, and updating my portfolio, and i'd love to bring you along for the ride!

PROJECTS IN PROGRESS: katrina van tassel cosplay, tailored jackets, greek vase textile design, goat mask

on my patreon i share my works in progress for everyone to see, and a mood board, a costume sketch and a costume design related to a monthly theme for my patrons each month. my mood boards are very aesthetics and costume inspiration driven, they're basically made up of the visual imagery i work from when designing my costumes. perhaps you'll find them useful as a resource in your own work, or maybe you just find them pretty to look at! my costume idea sketches live somewhere in the murky waters between costume drawings and technical drawings, but i find them an essential part of my process. feel free to use them as a starting point for your own designs. my costume designs are fully finished costume drawings. my favourite technique is collage, but i'm a big advocate for mixed media and generally end up using any method that helps get my ideas across. i hope you'll find them interesting, maybe even enough to make them for yourself.

i'll use your generous donations to help fund my creative practice by using them to buy:
  • fabric, fabric and more fabric
  • other sewing materials and equipment
  • other art and craft materials for my designs
  • tickets to exhibitions, conventions and other events

if you would like to see even more of my work in progress i post a lot on instagram. for more of my portfolio check out my website ( i sell some of my sewing on etsy, so if you'd like to see what i've got on offer at the moment check out my shop BelphoebeDesigns ( i'm very active on pinterest so if you want to see more of my inspirations head over there.
