Acrocanthosaurus, by Monty Harper
Acrocanthosaurus by Monty Harper, released 11 November 2010 Acrocanthosaurus Acrocanthosaurus buried underneath the ground One hundred twenty million years you waited to be found Your bones reveal the tale Of claws that would impale And jaws that would avail a preditory carnivore Still you keep your secrets My Oklahoma dinosaur Acrocanthosaurus with your vertebrae so unique A scientific mystery, they give you your mystique Like dominoes in a row Were they more than just for show?
Did you know Oklahoma has an official state dinosaur - it's called Acrocanthosaurus! I wrote this song for the Museum of the Red River in Idabel, where the dinosaur is displayed. This is a track off my Songs From the Science Frontier CD. It features Chris Wiser and Dr. Rock of the Sugar Free Allstars, with electric guitar by Dave Spindle and was recorded at Bell Labs in Norman. I love the live drums, Beatlesque electric guitar, and the dino roar (bet you can't guess how we did it) on this track.
