A too-controlled end for The Taming of the Shrew ?
Aside from completely lacking anything with Christopher Sly in it (at least as it appears in my edition of the play), The Taming of the Shrew's fifth act is a fitting conclusion to the play. Though, its madcap comedy is turned decidedly down for the sake of bringing things to a close.
And so the curtain closes on 'The Taming of the Shrew'
In the fifth and final act of 'The Taming of the Shrew' I'm left wondering: Can the shrewish Katherine really have been tamed?
