April 2014 General Meeting & Event Confirmation!
All right, biggest PIGSquad General Meeting yet! From our most recent large meeting of 37 people, we hit 50 this past Sunday, including 13 new members who had never been to a meeting before! It was awesome to see such a large group of people come and enjoy themselves in the midst of event updates and new friends. We were also able to demo SleepNinja Games' Monsters Ate My Birthday Cake for the last time before it was announced that it will be published by Cartoon Network, and a couple of us were able to see a little bit of Crawl! Semi-side note: I'm super happy that some team members working on Monsters (including myself) met via PIGSquad :D Looking forward, we're gettin' pretty busy over the course of the next month: • April marks PIGSquad's 3rd year of events, so we'll be having a celebration of games and film on the 19th at 5th Avenue Cinema (visit for more info). • Confirmation for our May game jam popped up this week – I'll be visiting our location and setting final final final logistics this weekend, so anticipate an invite via our Facebook or website channels very soon! • A PIGSquad friend is hosting an indie games arcade in association with WebVisions in mid-May, so get in touch with me if you're interested in showcasing your game or project! Exciting stuff! I'm also looking into a great possible opportunity for publishing members' games, I have a meeting set that'll enable me to bring back info about tax breaks for interactive media workers in Oregon, and I'm developing some partnerships that will enable everyone to showcase their projects more often with high visibility in the Portland area. Oh, and a couple of us went down to hang out at a game jam in Eugene, and there're so many possibilities for collaboration. More later; see you soon!
