wearecomics: I am Shing Yin Khor(@sawdu...
I've been super stressed out this week because I'm flying to Oregon on Wednesday to hang Dubious Beasts:Symbiosis with Leslie. The show opens on Saturday(with a soft open on Friday) and I really hope I get to see some of you there. We both worked so hard on this show, and I can't wait to see all our little critters hanging out together. I've also been working on my Beyond Anthology pencils. It's been frustrating, because drawing people has never been my forte, and that obviously is a problem that gets dragged out to the forefront whenever I have to draw people. It's agonizing, having to constantly compromise my story down to what I can actually draw. I can see what I want in my head so clearly, I just can't translate it to paper. I've started working on Chapter 5 of Otherworld Science! It's going well. I don't draw a lot of people in this comic. Which is a compromise, true, but I'm also super proud of coming up with a story that can be told easily within the current limitations of my artistic ability. Also, producing a chapter a month is very gratifying. I've finally hammered out what the care packages for April are going to be! You're all getting a little resin cast of a Jellybean Dorbal, and a print from my Cannon Beach art show(Dubious Beasts). The printed issue #2 of Otherworld Science will go into May's package, because I have an idea for another thing that will pair well with it! The link and picture is my contribution to We Are Comics, a wonderful site that celebrates the diversity of comics(http://wearecomics.tumblr.com/). Comics have always been such a diverse and wonderful field for me, both as a reader and a creator, and it bothers me that anyone would ever deny what is so clearly a fact. If you read, make or love comics, I hope you'll participate as well.
