Trans Résumés

is creating job application materials

per month

Résumés for Trans People is here to help trans people navigate the treacherous job market, in which they face greater barriers – even when armed with a college degree.

Here's a quick overview of the inequality:

National Center for Transgender Equality | 2015 U.S. Survey
  • There's 3x more unemployment in trans community.
  • About 40% of trans people of color are impoverished.
Transgender Health and Economic Insecurity: A report from the 2015 LGBT Health and Human Services Needs Assessment Survey
  • Half of trans people struggle to put enough food on the table.
  • College education does not alleviate the stress of unemployment and poverty for transgender people.
U.S. Commission on Civil Rights | 2017 Report
  • Nearly all trans people (90%) experience harassment and/or discrimination in the workplace.

By providing critical assistance in the job application process, Résumés for Trans People aims to help transgender individuals apply for well-paying positions with greater confidence. This service is more than a résumé and cover letter, providing emotional support and realistic advice about how to navigate discriminatory employment practices.

Every $150 raised guarantees that one trans person will get a FREE résumé and cover letter. Keep in mind this is a full day of work, sometimes more, because of the fully customized service that considers each person's unique personality and career industry. My sliding scale rates are $150 to $250 per résumé alone; design samples are available on

This process also includes advice on how to tailor job application materials to suit each position. All trans folks helped through this project will be empowered to write strong cover letters without being dependent on professional support, and they'll be able to get ongoing consultation about future applications.

This project is run by Dom Chatterjee, founder of QTPoC Mental Health. They are excited to offer their professional job application skills to other trans folks who struggle with unemployment and under-employment. As a freelancer, Dom is constantly in the job market and knows how anxiety-inducing it can be for trans folks, especially given the harsh statistics around unemployment and discrimination in trans community. This project is a way for them to get support around their own career struggles, while passing forward that help to other trans folks.

Priority to trans women, trans femmes & Black trans individuals. For more information, reach out to [email protected] The application to receive résumés will be available soon!
