About Rick Hopkins

Over a decade ago I wrote a song called "Lift Up Your Eyes". It was the first song I had ever written and it really become a transition in my life. It seems like everyone who heard the song attached to it and it became something special to each of them. I couldn't have imagined that people would enjoy the song so much. Out of that experience I found that writing and recording music felt like exactly what God had for me to do, to whatever extent I could do it. So I recorded a few albums and people seem to enjoy them. It's never worked out for it to become my main career or source of income, but I love doing this. The music I've written has become a sort of musical journal of my life and when others hear it they seem to attach it to their own journey. I consider songwriting to be one of the greatest privileges of my life. I would love to continue writing and recording because I believe God has gifted me with a voice and a message that seems to resonate with others and helps them through life.

One key component that I've tried to keep intact over the years is that I like to give all my music away for free! This doesn't exactly lend itself to being a sustainable move. It costs money to record. It costs money to get music digitally distributed. I have lots of kids. They eat lots of food. You get the picture. I need some help. Patreon is sort of like an ongoing kickstarter campaign. Patreon enables fans to give ongoing support to their favorite creators. You can help support on a monthly basis, or help support on a per release basis. See the FAQ on Patreon site for more info.

I'd love it if you'd consider helping me along the way. I'm not looking to make tons of money here. I'd just like to cover my costs really, which include recording, producing, mixing mastering and digital distribution through sites like Amazon, iTunes, and Spotify. If my music has meant anything to you, or you think it could help others, I'd be honored and humbled if you'd help support me. Thank you for taking the time to read this and consider joining me.
