Loyalty and allegiance are as natural to you as the rise and fall of your breaths. Have mercy--those you swore to protect may not envision the same "perfect" world you do. May your shield be wide enough to protect yourself, as well as the masses. May your arms have the strength to carry your burdens. May your efforts not be in vain. May your resolve never falter.

About

I promise you, we didn't mean for this.

Decades from now, this story won't be ours anymore. We might not even be around to defend ourselves. This story is barely even ours now. We were trying to find some place safe--how could we have known we were starting fires everywhere we went? We were trying to outrun death... and sometimes, I feel like all we ever did was hand others to it and save ourselves. Judge us how you will. We did our best to make the world kinder. Gentler. More understanding. More fair.

We were all born in nations that only belong in history books now. They had centuries of tradition and stability, and we buried them in graves of ink and paper; all lost in a revolution we never meant to start. I don't know what the world is going to look like going forward. Something newer. Something better? I hope so. By the time you read this, you'll know better than any of us will. But I want you to know our story.

And to forgive us.
